Head Brewer - Sherwood Mountain Brewhouse
Sherwood Mountain Brewhouse, established in 2014 in Terrace B.C., has greatly grown since its humble beginnings. Located in the Northwest of the province, Sherwood is surrounded by a multitude of outdoor experiences that we aim to transcribe into our beer. We are not just a brewery - we are a community hub. Role and Responsibilities:
· Responsibilities will include all aspects of the brewing and packaging processes, quality assurance, reporting of production, coach & motivating members of the brewing team, and health & safety protocols.
· Schedule production, recipe formulation, pilot beer planning, and forecasting brewing needs for both in-house and licensee sales.
· Inventory management for brewhouse supplies and ingredients.
· Oversee line cleaning both onsite and offsite with possible line cleaning duties.
· Maintain equipment SOP’s, brewhouse cleanliness, and organization.
· Maintain Sherwood’s brewing KPI’s while also working towards higher standards.
· Oversee and maintain Brewhouse supply inventory and inventory for packaged goods.
· Represent Sherwood at conferences and offsite events.
· Work alongside the Management team to create and further develop a positive and thriving business.
Skills:
· 2+ years of on the job brewing experience, managerial experience as well as formal brewing education.
· Knowledge or interest in yeast wellness and propagation, bacteria, and molds.
· Knowledge and experience with Wild Goose canning machine and Meheen bottling machine is an asset.
· Existing knowledge of sensory analysis.
· Understanding of dispensing systems and beer line maintenance.
· Natural interest in new product development for low-alcohol and alcohol-free beer as well as seltzers, kombucha and soft drinks.
· Must be able to lift 25kg bags repeatedly, have exemplary cleaning skills, attentive to the repetitive and small details of brewing.
· Class 5 BC Driver’s license is a requirement with a clean driving record.
· Ability to work with a variety of personality types and people.
· Forklift certification and Serving it Right are benefits.
· Experience with Ollie Ops is a benefit.
Compensation:
· Salary ranges between $24.00 to $28 CAD/hourly depending on experience
· Full time, weekends, and overtime as required
· 11 paid stat holidays including a bonus paid day on Boxing Day.
